Isn't it time you replaced your old Fuseboard?

If your fuseboard looks similar to the ones shown below, then it's time you thought about replacing it with a safer, more up-to-date consumer unit.

As you might expect, modern units have a number of advantages over old style fuseboards. For a start, they have a built-in Residual Current Device (RCD), which provides an additional level of protection that the old style fuseboards can't provide.

The new units also contain Miniature Circuit Breakers (MCB's), which have replaced the fuses in the old style fuseboards. And, because they can be reset at the flick of a switch, you're no longer faced with a confusing mess of wire if you're trying to switch something back on.

Free Initial Visual Inspection

Before we can begin to replace your old fuseboard, we will need to carry out an essential visual safety inspection. This visual inspection is carried out free of charge. It involves checking the condition of your existing installation, so that we can satisfy ourselves that your current earthing and bonding arrangements are suitable.

If everything appears to be in order, we can begin to install your new consumer unit. If the visual inspection identifies any potential problems, we will normally recommend a full inspection of your existing wiring before going any further.

It's important to stress that we will never go ahead with a full inspection of your wiring, until you have instructed us to do so.

The cost of carrying out a full inspection will depend on the size of your property. Prices start from £130.

Why are we telling you this?

No one likes hidden surprises. Consequently, until we've actually carried out our initial visual inspection, we can only provide you with guideline costs (which we've outlined below).

We will provide you with a detailed and accurate quote, once we've completed the necessary inspection and before we begin installing your new consumer unit.

And, because the price we quote is the price we charge, you get the peace of mind that comes from knowing you won't be presented with any additional hidden charges later on.

How much will it cost?

Prices for a new consumer unit and fitting, including certification and registration with building control, start from £340.

If our initial visual inspection highlights any areas of concern, we will recommend a full inspection to confirm the condition of your existing wiring. Prices for a full inspection of your wiring start from £130.

And, remember, all our work is certificated and, as an approved NICEIC electrician, any new wiring carries a 6 year NICEIC workmanship warranty, giving you even more peace of mind.
